BPH was the type of prostate that was getting replaced by hair loss. This was not just hair loss but also prostate cancer. I had high levels of and and was now experiencing hair loss called androgenetic alopecia.
In my clinical trial, 50 men with BPH were given finasteride ( Finogard 20-50mg Tablet x 1 ) for 5 years and in these 50 men, which was lower than what I had been taking before the test, high levels of testosterone were detected. This was very interesting as I had never taken finasteride before.
One of the 50 men was given an placebo and the other 50 men were given finasteride. In these two finasteride treated men, testosterone was still very low compared to the placebo group. This was very odd as testosterone is still very low.
On rare occasions, finasteride will cause men to lose some hair. This is very unlikely to happen for many men. Even if finasteride had been taken into account, there was a very small increased risk of prostate cancer. This was very small and less than I was aware of.
Although this is a private medication, I would not recommend it to everyone.

My Dr. would not give this patient any if they continued to take finasteride but said he would prescribe them finasteride 5mg per day and they should be seen within 1-3 days of taking it.

I was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. I had a very hard time dealing with the symptoms as I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate (BPH). I had no problem in treating myself with Proscar (for BPH). However, I was unable to get or maintain an erection. The prostate had not been removed by my doctor for years. I felt embarrassed to talk to my GP and was embarrassed when I had to go into my GP for a consultation. I decided to try Proscar to see if it would be an effective treatment for me.
